Here’s some blueberries. Our plants are still pretty young so we don’t get to many berries yet but we’re super excited to have blueberries for years to come!
Gravelsack ( @Gravelsack@lemmy.one ) English5•2 years agoMy blueberry bushes are easily the most productive plant in my garden. My bushes are about 4 years old and last year we got 2 gallon freezer bags full and that doesn’t even count all the berries I ate straight off the plant. I also made a blueberry vinegar that tastes absolutely divine
Oh wow! How big are yours? We just planted ours last year
Gravelsack ( @Gravelsack@lemmy.one ) English3•2 years agoTwo are Patriot variety, and they have both grown quite tall, about 4 feet. The other two are unknown variety because they were actually dug out of someone’s yard and given to us as a gift. Those have grown more bushy I’d say about 3 feet diameter
CosmxTi ( @CosmxTi@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoWe grew blueberries for a hot minute. They love acidic soil. Keep that ph between 4-6 and they will thrive.
boopinsnoots ( @boopinsnoots@feddit.nl ) English2•2 years agoThis is so cool. I always wanted to do this with some leftover blueberries (crushing leftover ones into some soil) but I don’t have the space for a large plant/bush right now. For now I’ll just stick to my couple succulents and houseplants.
kissmekate ( @kissmekate@feddit.uk ) English2•2 years agoI’ve got some too, for the first time. I planted a second bush. Didn’t realize they need two. For a big haul, I’ll do PYO at a nearby farm.
CayProcyon ( @CayProcyon@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoThat’s nice, we have some blueberries too since a week :) They are still small, I’m curious what they’re going to taste like
