…unfortunately this’ll take awhile. it’s still about 4,780 as of writing. but that’s down probably 1,000 from its peak! we finally have a hacky system to handle denials, so that’s really helping here.
we also missed a bunch of cool people, who we’re approving too.
we can now, finally, say that if you register, your judgement (whether approve/deny) should come down within 24-48 hours, although the deny email might take longer than that depending on circumstances.
Rentlar ( @Rentlar@beehaw.org ) English10•1 year agoThat’s a hell of a lot of applications to go through! Take your time as you need and don’t feel too pressured by the sheer volume of applications.
a lot of them in fairness are easy denies, and that alone makes it pretty easy to do them in batches of 100 or so. i think i’ve cut down the total number by about 100 from posting so far
aka_oscar ( @aka_oscar@beehaw.org ) English7•1 year agoIf its not too nosy to ask: What do most denied requests look like? Like, did they not answer the question or were they being dicks?
mostly the first, very occasionally the second; we ask them to reapply. unfortunately now we have a whole other problem which precludes us from currently sending any emails, so uh lol
wolfowl ( @wolfowl@beehaw.org ) English9•1 year agoI’m in and got email. Thanks so much!
Rentlar ( @Rentlar@beehaw.org ) English5•1 year agoWelcome! I’m glad to have you here.
nlm ( @nlm@beehaw.org ) English6•1 year agoGood job!
You guys really did get your hands full didn’t you?
Fizz ( @Fizz@lemmy.nz ) English4•1 year agoAwesome to hear.
Kernel ( @Kernel@beehaw.org ) English4•1 year agoEncouraging progress. Though I’d suspect that clearing the backlog alone may not resolve the problem some users have had with a perpetually stalled signup attempt.
