This is a set built-ins I did two years ago. A full one third of the project was spent painting! I did it all with a brush and regret not getting a sprayer.

Probably not much of an issue in this case, since the TV isn’t really central to this… But don’t make the mistake I did in 2006 and build your cabinet to fit a specific TV.
A modern 65 incher will technically fit this 58" TV-shaped opening, but it’ll be a combo of awkward narrow & wide gaps.
Oh that’s lovely. What material are the door panels?
I sized the opening to be a bit bigger than a 40" screen. Our house is pretty small so we won’t have much use for anything larger.

My house came with a beautiful oak built-in in the basement, that was made to fit the prior owner’s standard-def tube tv. Its a huge, deep, square hole that we can’t do anything with.

Beautiful! What wood and finish did you use for the horizontal wood part?
It’s a 12’ piece of scarf jointed cherry sourced from a local flooring & decor store. Finished with wipe on poly. We are really pleased with it!

Beautiful work OP! Love the exposed wood in the middle. As a lover of wood grain, the more exposed wood the better!
