verysoft ( @verysoft@kbin.social ) 19•1 year agoWhy not just use LocalSend? Open source, simple and cross-platform.
nosurf ( @nosurf@unilem.org ) 4•1 year agoThis looks amazing. I made a horrid version of this like 8 years ago. Eventually would just pass stuff around by putting it in my nas
esty ( @esty@lemmy.ca ) 5•1 year agoi read this as “pass stuff around by putting it in my ass” and just didn’t question it for a solid 15 seconds
Pretzelise ( @Pretzelise@aussie.zone ) 2•1 year agoI read it this way even after reading your comment, assuming they’d edited their post…
Square Singer ( @squaresinger@feddit.de ) 2•1 year agoMe too! Didn’t notice it until I read your comment. “Putting stuff in your ass is a weird way of file sharing… Maybe they are just sharing really illegal stuff?”

GadolElohai ( @GadolElohai@kbin.social ) 3•1 year agoThanks for making me aware of this cool tool!
Mike Stevens 🇦🇺 S23U ( @mikestevens@lemdro.id ) 3•1 year agoMan. I had no idea LocalSend existed. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages. I’d been using Snapdrop on and off, but it was pretty unreliable.
I use MacOS, so this shit has never been as simple for me as it should be!
doc ( @doc@kbin.social ) 5•1 year agoPairDrop.net does the same via your browser. I think it’s more or less the same mechanism, just no install needed and fully cross platform. Just visit the site on both devices and share stuff.
The snapdrop app on fdroid gives you an easy share intent to use.

squirrel ( @squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de ) English4•1 year agoDoes this work over Wifi or only Bluetooth?
𝔹𝕣𝕠𝕜𝕖𝕟_𝕄𝕚𝕟𝕕 ( @Unpopular4810@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English6•1 year agoI’ve been trying the beta out from the day it was released. Bluetooth needs to be turned on.
AmbleHamble ( @AmbleHamble@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English3•1 year agoI believe it’s WiFi with no extra configs or port forwarding.
I’m honestly just going to stick with LocalSend - that’s all this is, but Googles
squirrel ( @squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de ) English6•1 year agoJust tested it. It needs Bluetooth :(

I hope it gets better I tried it with my phone sitting right next to my PC, and it was so slow… settled on about 35k/s
