They want everyone to shift towards Revanced Extended for Android and Sponsorblock & other YouTube enhancing extensions for PC browsers?

Honestly, their excessive video ads pushed me to those and other alternatives like Newpipe and Libretube long ago. I also dislike the idea of locking basic functionality like background playback behind a subscription (one-time pro app payments would’ve been fine to me).

Existing subscribers will start to see the new pricing with their next billing cycle.

I recently discovered invidious, or however it’s spelled. The reason I started using it was because I wanted to get rid of YouTube shorts. They are too addicting and there is no way to turn it off on the official app.

The lack of ads is so nice, I think I’ll keep using it.

If they only had a way to remove or hide YouTube shorts, then I’d still be using their app watching their ads.
