Domestic violence is absolutely something that I’ve seen swept under the rug in queer spaces, I usually chalk it up to the fight against bigotry taking so much effort that many community leaders don’t want to risk fracturing the group they’re trying to keep together.

I recently read a memoir about lesbians and domestic violence. Obviously quite a bit different than queer men, but still dealt with many similar issues (heteronormativity the foremost among them, though the other side of it).
It is titled In the Dream House. Highly recommended.

The article reads so generically, as if it’s soul it isn’t there and it’s only forced to talk about this issue but it rather it didn’t.
But the issue is existentially important. Seems like I’m not ready to write in which ways, but definitely it’s not so clinical and buzzword-heavy like the article presents it.
