Many workers across the U.S. are turning to ChatGPT to help with basic tasks, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found, despite fears that have led employers such as Microsoft and Google to curb its use.

  • I work for myself. And I use it all the time. Mostly for simple stuff like, I’ll copy text from a pdf and it will have all these extra returns or weird spaces before periods.

“Chatgpt? Can you removed the extra returns from this text and all the future text I send?

Suddenly I’m saving a ton of time. It’s this busy work that it’s saving me from doing.

    • I’m programmer, and my employer has forbidden the use of large language models in anything work-related until the legal department figures out what the heck. It’s become quite noticeable at this point how much of a hassle it is not being able to do that. When writing code for my own personal use I frequently ask ChatGPT “write me a Python script to do such-and-such tedious chore”, or “write me a snippet of C# code that does a thing to a list of stuff”. I can do all that myself but it’s just grunt work.
