I don’t ever see this being tossed around so I’ll share it here, SmartTube is a completely ad free and downright great YouTube app for android TV you can side load.
After the ten thousandth unskippable 30 second ad for cat food (I do not own a cat) I added smart tube. It’s great.
The algo of our overlords has decided that your life will be better with cats. You just don’t know it yet. Get one. Resistance is futile.
Yes it works great. I’ve got ReVanced on my Android phone and can cast to Streamtube that way without root, so no ads on both.

First off I’d recommend investing in Real-Debrid, it’s a service that caches torrents for streaming and costs about $3 per month. It’s required for most of these apps, or at least highly recommended.
Streamio + Torrentio has already been mentioned, Syncler is really good and easy to use, many extra features with Syncler+ but it’s not required.
Kodi with addons works really well, but requires some tinkering to get started and basic maintenance / troubleshooting if something goes wrong. Check out old.reddit.com/r/addons4kodi some good addons are Fen, Seren and Umbrella but there are many others, Otaku is good for anime.
JellyFin is a great media streaming app (fork of Plex), and has an android TV app. Also for anime there’s aniyomi.
