It looks like the house just has a weird roofline, and the doors go to storage in the eaves. It’d look less wonky if the built-in storage was shelves or something instead of these mini doors.
Yeah, as a German living in the UK it still trips me up that in an unfamiliar flat you can open random doors that looks exactly like any other door but there’s no room behind it, just a 20 cm deep shelve. Sure why not, I guess.
Or double cabinet/wardrobe style doors to look more like built-in storage.
