Happy to be of service. Hopefully once we’ve posted enough of these tankies will stop going into the comments to spread genocide denial and authoritarian apologia.

Laughing didn’t stop the Nazis.
FaceDeer ( @FaceDeer@kbin.social ) 12•1 year agoBullets don’t work through the Internet, you need an analog connection for that. So laughter’s the only way we can wound them here.

RustledTeapot ( @RustledTeapot@kbin.social ) 22•1 year agoGenerally someone who makes justifications and/or excuses for totalitarian communist regimes and their atrocities.
It came from still supporting Stalin after he sent tanks into a rebelling territory.
Enitoni ( @enitoni@beehaw.org ) 1•1 year agoThese are not the same people who share the viewpoints Karl Marx, right? I hear so much conflicting information about communism. Some people think it’s good, some people think it’s bad. Personally, I identify as a socialist because to me those values just resonate with me.
0U714W ( @0U714W@slrpnk.net ) 1•1 year agoI don’t get how the USSR and CCP are actually “communist.” Are they as “communist” as North Korea is a “Democratic Republic?”
h34d ( @h34d@feddit.de ) 2•1 year agoTo my knowledge, neither the USSR nor the PRC ever claimed to actually have achieved communism (hence why the USSR has “socialist” in its name, not “communist”), but they were governed by “communist” parties in the sense that they were following in the tradition of Marx and Lenin and at least claimed to want to achieve communism at some point. Of course, the USSR no longer exists, and the PRC has undergone a series of economic reforms since the 1970s, after the death of Mao. They now claim to follow something they call “Socialism with Chinese characteristics”, but as far as I can tell it seems very similar to something I would call “capitalism in an authoritarian one-party state and a bunch of blabla about how it technically doesn’t contradict Marx”, but ymmv. So imo the CCP is now only called “communist” for historical reasons, and in that sense I see it as similar to the case of North Korea, but they might still have some theorists who would disagree with that assessment. And in the West in particular many people just mix up terms like “socialist” and “communist” anyway, and also often don’t realize that the economic systems of Russia and China have changed a lot since the end of the cold war (or Mao’s death).
chickenwing ( @chickenwing@lemmy.ml ) 15•1 year agoThey are Stalinists and Maoists who refuse to admit any wrongdoing by communist leaders. They are pretty prevalent on lemmy. For some reason they are typically pro Russia regarding Ukraine. Nostalgia maybe? lol

Sweet Krolm, the Rat God, what bullshit do they post.
Shit like “If it was a soviet ‘crime’ that means it wasn’t a crime at all”
You should hear what they have to say about the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Apparently failing to stop the nazis is worse than actively assisting them in conquering and oppressing Poland.
brezhnervous ( @brezhnervous@lemm.ee ) 5•1 year agoFun fact: Mentioning the Nazi-Soviet pact is a Federal crime in Russia today.
Bucket_of_Truth ( @Bucket_of_Truth@kbin.social ) 3•1 year agoYou don’t think they made up for it a little with 8 million+ dead soldiers fighting the Nazis? And ya kno, getting to Berlin first and ending the European theater of WWII?
No? What the fuck? That’s not how morality works. Nothing about the Soviet Union’s values or how they made decisions changed, as evidenced by them continuing to engage in oppression and imperialist aggression right up until basically the day they collapsed.
