These are some pretty abysmal winners. Kaiju Preservation society is at best a pulpy beach read. Haven’t read Babel but I was unimpressed by Poppy Wars and the excerpts I’ve seen from Babel lack coherent voice.

I enjoyed many of the other nominees, like Sea of Tranquility.
