Player2 ( @Player2@sopuli.xyz ) 14•9 months agoFun fact, they are significantly worse at moving air if they’re dirty
June ( @June@lemm.ee ) 6•9 months agoI don’t run it for it’s ability to move air.
Admiral Patrick ( @ptz@dubvee.org ) English11•9 months agoSo true 😂
I have gotten in a rhythm of cleaning the blades each spring/winter when I stop it long enough to reverse the direction.
TrustingZebra ( @TrustingZebra@lemmy.one ) 7•9 months agoYou learned that the hard way?
Admiral Patrick ( @ptz@dubvee.org ) English8•9 months agoYep. Because one time I stopped the fan, didn’t clean the dust, reversed it, and set it to high. Dust flew everywhere. At least it was a learning experience lol.
Chobbes ( @Chobbes@beehaw.org ) 2•9 months agoYou learned you had a self-cleaning fan, so you decided to clean it every time?
Admiral Patrick ( @ptz@dubvee.org ) English3•9 months agoLol! If I didn’t have crazy allergies, I’d let the dust fly. Unfortunately, no such thing as a free meal.
awwwyissss ( @awwwyissss@lemm.ee ) 3•9 months agoYou leave your fan running all day? Like you leave it running when you aren’t even there?
Admiral Patrick ( @ptz@dubvee.org ) English9•9 months agoLiterally never turn it off. But it helps circulate the A/C for the dogs, so it’s not uselessly blowing air around when I’m not there to feel it.
I also work from home, so it’s less wasteful than it sounds. Any extra carbon emissions from running that ~50 watts is more than offset by me not commuting/sitting in traffic every day.
awwwyissss ( @awwwyissss@lemm.ee ) 5•9 months agoFair enough, yeah that makes sense. 50 Watts isn’t all that much
