OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) English25•2 years agoTo be honest I have plenty of games in my backlog to play. Buuuut if there are any really good deals on Tunic, Pizza Tower, Tetris Effect or Cult of the Lamb I maybe consider them.
I should probably reduce my backlog first though…
shadow01 ( @shadow01@lemmy.legally-berlin.de ) English7•2 years agoGot cult of the lamb in the last sale. Was really fun and ran well. A bit repetitive with managing the cult in my opinion. But there is an option to stop time while you are on crusade (and cooking without minigane. With that it was worth it :)
OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) English2•2 years agoI heard there was a big update a couple of months ago - did that change much?
shadow01 ( @shadow01@lemmy.legally-berlin.de ) English2•2 years agoI only played after the upgrade. AFAIK added post game content and the time stop option.
Xeelee ( @Xeelee@kbin.social ) 5•2 years agoWait what? You have to play your games first before you can buy more? Well, fuck.
OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) 3•2 years agoI wish - If that was the case I wouldn’t be in this situation :'( My will power is not strong
Hondolor ( @Hondolor@kbin.social ) 4•2 years agoWe all do xD, and yet we will still buy more games because steam summer sale!
Flaky ( @Flaky@iusearchlinux.fyi ) English3•2 years agoSame. I’m playing Watch Dogs Legion right now, gonna finish the main story before I choose another game.
OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) English3•2 years agoI’ve never tried the Watch Dogs games - what do you think of Legion?
Flaky ( @Flaky@iusearchlinux.fyi ) English2•2 years agoI’d say get WD2 over Legion. It’s the best one out of the three.
While Legion has some interesting mechanics, it kinda feels half-baked. Didn’t grip me as well as WD2 did. Unless you want a snarky British digital assistant talking to you (and I mean that endearingly), then absolutely get Legion.
OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) English1•2 years agoThanks! Have you tried WD2 on Steam Deck? I’ve just had a look at the ProtonDB page and there seem to be some issues (crashing due to a memory leak?)
Flaky ( @Flaky@iusearchlinux.fyi ) English2•2 years agoNot unfortunately! I have it directly from UbiSoft and I haven’t got that properly set up yet.
Fylkir ( @Fylkir@lemmy.sdf.org ) English1•2 years agoAs someone who doesn’t play a lot of AAA games, it’s legitimately gripping. Enough that I bought it on both PS5 and PC/Deck. Granted it was on sale both times.
fades ( @fades@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoHow do you choose games to play? I got the deck with the sale so I’ve no idea how it plays.
Heard nothing but good things but what games are viable? That sort of thing
Metatron ( @Metatron@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoDeck verified games are tagged in the Steam store best place to start. Protondb also lists compatible games.
static ( @static@midwest.social ) 21•2 years agoHoping for a sale on Tunic. I picked it up on my Switch but honestly have been far happier with Deck performance of games I have on both platforms that I’d rather go through it on the Deck
Alacran ( @glasslyrata@mander.xyz ) 4•2 years agoTunic is also on my wishlist. Crossing fingers!
static ( @static@midwest.social ) 1•2 years agohttps://store.steampowered.com/app/553420/TUNIC/ looks like our wish was granted :D
mustyOrange ( @mustyOrange@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoMan Tunic was such a good game
nameless_prole ( @nameless_prole@kbin.social ) 0•2 years agoYeah, Tunic on Switch is rough…
static ( @static@midwest.social ) 2•2 years agoI was also shocked how much worse dead cells performed on the switch, kinda made me decide to stick with pc/deck for non exclusives now
OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) 2•2 years agoInterestingly I first played Dead Cells on switch and it seemed to run well, but that was a few years back at this point. Did an update tank performance or something?
static ( @static@midwest.social ) 1•2 years agoI noticed lots more “stutters” at random times than I ever saw on PC / Steam Deck. I moved it to onboard storage and that helped some but still played better on the Deck
Dandroid ( @dandroid@dandroid.app ) 1•2 years agoThat’s honestly pretty impressive considering how minimalist the art style is. I played in on Steam Deck and it played flawlessly. Highly recommended.
Ruapho ( @ruapho@discuss.tchncs.de ) 16•2 years agoStray!
Cloudless ☼ ( @cloudless@feddit.uk ) 4•2 years agoYeah I want to play as a cat but Stray is too little content for its full price.
Elkan Nixed ( @ElkanNixed@programming.dev ) 13•2 years agoOh darn. Since I have a Steam Deck I’ve been wishlisting games like a mad man. It’s going to hard to not buy new games. One of the reasons I got a Deck is that I want to clear out by backlog.
MartianFox ( @MartianFox@feddit.de ) 6•2 years agoI am actually exactly the same 😂 Wishlist is exploding since getting the Deck, sadly time to game is not.
OmegaMouse ( @OmegaMouse@feddit.uk ) 4•2 years agoThe endless cycle…
Fylkir ( @Fylkir@lemmy.sdf.org ) 1•2 years agoCheck out Isthereanydeal. Tells you other stores that sell a game as well. You can import your wishlist.
TheSaneWriter ( @thesanewriter@vlemmy.net ) 10•2 years agoI’ll be honest, I own so many games from the last sale that I’m probably going to sit this one out. I have something like 140 games, and of those the majority are on my backlog, so I won’t be running out any time soon.
b00m ( @b00m@kbin.social ) 10•2 years agoI’ll say it… Last Of Us
According to protondb, it runs much better now. However, isn’t it a bit early to be part of the sale?
plexnose ( @plexnose@geddit.social ) 3•2 years agoThey might put it at 20% off maybe
sake ( @sake@sopuli.xyz ) 7•2 years agoI’ll buy the Dock if it’s on sale. I might actually buy it anyways but might as well wait one day to see if I can save a few bucks.
I’ve put off buying it since honestly it feels a bit overpriced since you can get a hub that does pretty much the same job for 20€.
Elkan Nixed ( @ElkanNixed@programming.dev ) English3•2 years agoLooks like it’s on sale… 20% off. I’m in doubt, not sure if I’m going to use it as much as I think.
sake ( @sake@sopuli.xyz ) English2•2 years agoAlright that’s decent enough price. While you can get 3rd party Dock pretty cheap, counting in shipping and the power adapter, it rounds up to 70€ for me. For 10€ more I can get first party support, that’s actually competitive value.
I bought a 3rd party “Deck Dock” that works perfectly fine for 30€ or so.
Fylkir ( @Fylkir@lemmy.sdf.org ) 2•2 years agoI got a $20 Hub and wouldn’t recommend it. For whatever reason the USB parts didn’t work.
Fubarberry ( @Fubarberry@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) 7•2 years agoProbably can’t expect much of a sale since it’s still in early access, but Shadows of Doubt has captured my attention like few other games and I’m really looking for an excuse to pick it up.
mabd ( @mabd@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoThere’s nothing else like it, even in its current early access state. Can’t wait to see where they go with it.
JCreazy ( @JCreazy@midwest.social ) 7•2 years agoI’ve heard Prey is good so I’m hoping that goes on sale.
HiT3k ( @HiT3k@beehaw.org ) 10•2 years ago@JCreazy@midwest.social @chri1stian@lemmy.ml Prey is free on GOG via Prime, if you want to give it a shot on Windows or get GOG running on Deck.
JCreazy ( @JCreazy@midwest.social ) 1•2 years agoExcellent, thanks for the tip, I’ll see if I can get it on GOG
fool5cap ( @fool5cap@beehaw.org ) English5•2 years agoIt was being given away on Amazon Prime Gaming recently, not sure if it still is. Redeemed as a GOG code.
chri1stian ( @chri1stian@lemmy.ml ) 4•2 years agoI haven’t heard much about that one. What excited you about it?
Coeus ( @Coeus@coeus.sbs ) 4•2 years agoIt’s sci Fi and it looks cool I guess.
HiT3k ( @HiT3k@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoIt’s an immersive sim by Arkane, the imsim developer, in the vein of System Shock and Deus Ex. I prefer it over Dishonored for its more genre typical sci-fi setting (one of the best space stations I’ve explored in gaming) and deeper systems. Think Bioshock meets Alien.
Chungus ( @chungus@thechurchofmemes.com ) English2•2 years agoPrey is amazing! One of my favorite games.
Dandroid ( @dandroid@dandroid.app ) 1•2 years agoI haven’t played it on the Steam Deck, so I can speak to its performance, but I really enjoyed this game. It’s a whole lot of fun of you like mysterious, creepy games with some jump scares. I’d say its closest comparable is BioShock 1 & 2.
JCreazy ( @JCreazy@midwest.social ) 1•2 years agoOddly enough, I’ve only played Bioshock Infinite.
Dandroid ( @dandroid@dandroid.app ) 1•2 years agoInfinite is a very different type of game than 1 & 2. I absolutely loved all 3 (1 and 3 more than 2 tbh). But if you really liked 1&2, you may not like infinite, and vice versa. 1&2 are dark and suspenseful. Infinite is well-lit and they stopped doing most of the jump scares. But the gameplay felt amazing and the story was a 10/10.
AZmaybe9 ( @Dragonmind@lemm.ee ) 7•2 years agoAll about indies at this point for me! I found these after slashing my wishlist in half!
. Rusted Moss . Roboquest . Protodroid DeLTA
mad_psymon ( @mad_psymon@discuss.tchncs.de ) 5•2 years agoDark Souls 3. I’ve been waiting for a year for From Software games to get a discount again
mad_psymon ( @mad_psymon@discuss.tchncs.de ) 1•2 years ago50% Discount at Humble Store 😍
xpsking ( @xpsking@midwest.social ) 5•2 years agoAlready grabbed uncharted. Played last of us (not on deck on my pc running nobara) so am excited for another naughty dog title
picnic ( @picnic@kbin.social ) 2•2 years agoHow’s uncharted on deck?
bob ( @bob@lemmy.havocperil.uk ) 1•2 years agoruns great on Deck, really enjoyed it.
Juanjo Salvador ( @jsalvador@programming.dev ) 4•2 years agoI’ve got several games on my wishlist, but I don’t know how many of them are available with full support on SteamDeck 🤔
Anyway, God of War could be the only one I would buy this season.
plexnose ( @plexnose@geddit.social ) 4•2 years agoI bought it and runs and looks great - only thing is, I got bored about 1/3 of the way in - its very repetitive.
wagesof ( @wagesof@links.wageoffsite.com ) 4•2 years agoEven if it doesn’t say it has support if it has controller support and doesn’t require anticheat you’ve got a great chance that it will be fine.
Viva la return policy!
xoniq ( @xoniq@sopuli.xyz ) 4•2 years agoGonna be a though sale for my wallet. In the coming week I’m hospitalized 😂 so I need a few games to burn.
maiskanzler ( @maiskanzler@feddit.de ) 2•2 years agoWon’t be on sale, but if you like city builders or similar stuff, try Factorio! It looks a bit weird and anachronistic at first but BOY is that ever an addictive game! I already spent over 50 hours in it since I bought it several weeks ago. For comparison: I have about 200 hours in Cities: Skylines, one of my absolute favourite games ever!
Kebab ( @Kebab@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoget good fast :)
Flaky ( @Flaky@iusearchlinux.fyi ) 4•2 years agoHi-Fi Rush, BallisticNG, Klonoa, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, PowerWash Sim, Symphony, Invector: Rhythm Galaxy. Maybe Marble It Up too.
The rest are games that work better on PC (e.g. supports steering wheels, requires a beefy PC).
