A bright red waterfall isn’t something you’d expect to see on the icy landscape of Antarctica, but that’s exactly what’s pouring out from the foot of Taylor Glacier. A team of scientists now claims to have solved the long-standing mystery behind the crimson waters of Antarctica’s Blood Falls.
Oh, the blood river in Antarctica comes from “an extremely salty subglacial lake under high pressure, with no light or oxygen, and a microbial ecosystem that’s remained isolated for millions of years.”
Totally doesn’t sound like the premise of a horror story.
@idoubtit Iron nanospheres? Neat!
… My first reaction to this was, “Why have I never heard of this?!”
My second was, “Actually, it’s probably good I’ve never heard of it. It would’ve become the centerpiece of my Call of Cthulhu game years ago.”I wanted actual blood.
Interesting, but still somehow a letdown.
