Personal activity log of lessons learned, obscure and not so obscure technical tidbits and even some philosophy rants, which are a by-product of my personal and professional comings and goings.

The ligatures in Fira Code Nerd are my favorite feature.

May I ask why? I’m not loving ligatures :[

I gave Julia’s and Fira’s ligatures a try but no dice, it feels so super counterintuitive 😬

It’s definitely a personal preference thing. I just think they look cool and make it a bit easier to skim read large sections of code (assuming you have ligatures often in the code). They have lots of examples here: https://github.com/Trzcin/Fira-Code-Nerd

Anyway, you can still use that font without the ligatures, if that’s not your thing :p

Thanks for sharing. A good read, the quick comparisons were awesome. I landed on Fira and Hack a while ago and have been happy. Judging by the comparisons in the article, I gotta give JetBrains Mono a try though 🤔

Thanks a bunch! Yeah, that sounds about right, but also Julia and since some folks on Mastodon [1] told me also 0xProto 😂! Welcome to the rabbit hole!

0xProto looks very nice, thanks! But of course no comparison is complete without Iosevka. And it’s so customizable it won’t be complete even then…

        Here’s the build I use:

Spoiler alert: you’re the second person to suggest Iosevka, so I just added it to the comparison 🤠👍🏼

          I must say I don’t love it’s narrowness, but it’s really well made !

hm, connect for Lemmy is super buggy for me.

It says @erre@feddit.win 's comment cannot be found but now it’s showing up 🤔

      it’s too damn narrow

Yeah, as mentioned in the OP, I really like Ubuntu Mono but its narrowness is really hard on my eyes. I was having a convo on Mastodon with some folks though who mentioned they really enjoy them, so to each their own :)
