So if gambling is, quote: "dishonourable, prejudicial to, or against the welfare of the League or the game of hockey” why the fuck is it the core of all sportscasting now?
Make sports betting legal and watch people bet on sports. Advertise nothing but sports betting and watch people get addicted.

The League’s investigation found no evidence that Pinto made any wagers on NHL games
Interesting that the punishment was so long

Based on this, I am speculating this was a case of him providing insider information to someone else betting on NHL games. I read somewhere (can’t find it again) that players are allowed to bet on non NHL games.

Proxy bettor reads to me as someone else betting for him on NHL games, which would be even worse than leaking info.

Here’s another article from Sportsnet discussing the same thing.
Also, this tweet from Bruce Garrioch says “Am told the Sens have rescinded all previous offers and Pinto may have to sign his QO to officially begin serving the suspension.”
Yikes.
There’s a really helpful podcast going around at the moment that I’d recommend to anyone who’s interested in the subject.
Elliott and Jeff are usually pretty good with regards to reporting fact, and whilst they’re careful not to report what they don’t know, I think they do a good job of building a picture of what happened.
