This meme acts like high speed rail was ruined by musk, when in reality it’s been repeatedly sabotaged by politics for much longer than musk has been involved in contributing to the problem

Elon and his empty promises strike again. As a reminder, Musk promised to put a man on Mars in 10 years… 10 years ago.

He once sat on the Mars bar he left on couch and forgot about it, it should totally count.
~Unless he’s really bad android or lizardman as the memes claim~

China is leagues ahead of anything the pathetic west could hope to achieve

Tbh our government relies on people like musk to have an interest (aka American inventors with money). It also makes for failures.
Inversely that mega highway in China as I understand it is running into funding issues. It’s worth watching a few different YouTube takes to get a larger picture since they all tend to be biased.
I’m not sure I want a super highway or underground tunnels though. I don’t want to promote more cars. I’d rather see drones and personal delivery, and dedicated airways or systems that would allow drones to travel. Those fat trucks smog the earth here in the USA. I’m sure the same is true in China.
Thing is that Musk has literally admitted that Hyperloop was about getting legislators to cancel plans for high-speed rail in California:
In China, essential infrastructure projects are done based on their societal value as opposed to whims of the billionaires.

Interesting! Good to know and thanks for post - for anyone else interested heres a screenshot from the times article. Beware they’re going off a second hand retelling themselves, but I’d assume its nonetheless somewhat credible. Dubiously credible but still dubious.
