more information and update: https://www.kxii.com/2023/11/14/sherman-isd-board-trustees-votes-reinstate-original-cast-version-oklahoma/
tl;dr: public meeting held. 65 spoke on behalf of affected students, after which school board met privately with district’s attorney. board then voted unanimously to overrule principal or superintendent-whoever made the unilateral ‘policy’ decision, reinstate cast (many roles were affected, not just the one) and original script. another meeting to follow,

The board voted unanimously. Someone is losing their job. If you do this sort of shit without a single elected member supporting you, you deserve to reap what your fascist ass sows.

??? do trans people have an unfair advantage in acting or something

This school is being really petty. It’s acting, it shouldn’t matter what you are or are not so long as you can play the role.

I wonder if they could be sued under Americans with disabilities act. Requiring someone to suffer dysphoria to partake in the production would be discriminatory. Being trans is not likely protected, but suffering dysphoria might be.
