$90 - $190 if anybody else is wondering what “affordable” means.

Send pretty neat. Does it also ruin the same software that a raspberry pi can? Or does it need it’s own thing?
I believe it can, but it also has it’s own images. http://www.orangepi.org/html/hardWare/computerAndMicrocontrollers/service-and-support/Orange-Pi-5B.html

Video decoding of vp9 and av1 May make this a viable jellyfin server.
I do wish these sbc would find space on the board for m.2. I hate having to run everything off usb or sd card.
Also the promotional price is nice for 16gb.

The OrangePi 5 (as opposed to 5B) has an m.2 slot. I’ve got one running in my home lab with an NVME card in it, and it runs well. It is missing WiFi, but that’s a fine tradeoff IMO.

That’s really strange to not include the m.2 then.

I looked into using one of these for my media server but they are still too expensive like the Pi’s to be worth it IMO. I went with a minipc instead for more power and built in storage for not that much more

Anyone put RetroPi on this yet?

That’s pretty impressive performance without needing any cooling solution.

Since raspberry pis have been so hard to get I’ve been looking really closely at alternatives for my lab. I wasnt quite sold on the orange pi 4 but this 5 my attention. Thanks for providing links, going to dive into the specs!
