Wait what even would you use that for??

And at what time of the year do people just suddenly say “huh I wish my cord was gay”??

Back-feeding a generator into your house circuits. A very bad idea.

Wouldn’t you connect a generator to your panel so the breaker could engage?

I have a volt inverter (110 <-> 220) that use that kind of cable. It has two female inputs and this cable, if you want to transform from 110 to 220 you connect the male to the 110 output on the wall to the 110 input in the transformer and then your 220v appliance on the other side. Use everything the other way around to transform 220 to 110.

Some people have used a male-to-male cord to run power from an external generator into their home’s wires during major outages, particularly in winter

It’s for Christmas lights that can plug together in a series, such that one end is male and one female. If you put it up on your roof and then find out you have the female end down at the ground by the outlet, you might think it would be great to have a male-male connector to get power to it instead of taking it down and redoing it the right way.

I did once literally see a campus preacher make pretty much this point while waving around cords, trying to plug the male ends into each other, and going on about Michael Jackson. (This probably would have been around 2007?)
