Neotecha (She/her) ( @neotecha@beehaw.org ) English94•2 years ago“‘I never thought leopards would eat MY face,’ sobs woman who voted for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.”
prole ( @prole@beehaw.org ) English67•2 years ago“LGBTQ conservatives.” How fucking stupid and self-loathing do you need to be, Jesus Christ.
liminis ( @liminis@beehaw.org ) English11•2 years agoSadly the pickme mindset is not limited to gender.
arctic pie (he/him) ( @arcticpiecitylights@beehaw.org ) English58•2 years agoNot to be an asshole but I feel like he’s been crystal clear the entire time about his anti-LGBTQ crusade.
DiachronicShear ( @DiachronicShear@beehaw.org ) English52•2 years agothe anti-LGBTQ agenda was pretty overt, what did they think they were getting? do they know who DeSantis is? I’m convinced these people either don’t exist or are some of the dumbest people on the planet.
Valliac ( @Valliac@beehaw.org ) English45•2 years ago“The leopards surely won’t eat my face.”
overlordror ( @overlordror@beehaw.org ) English18•2 years agoAny LGBTQ person marching to the goose step of the Nazis that is surprised the Nazis turn on them is repeating the same mistake Jewish kapos made in the concentration camps. “Surely the Germans will see my value, keeping the other Jews in line,” says the Jewish kapo every day until he is burned up in the gas chamber—replaced by another kapo who thinks the same. Educate yourself on history so you don’t end up doomed to repeat it.
Corvus Nyx ( @CorvusNyx@beehaw.org ) English45•2 years agoYou can’t be misled when his hatred for LGBTQ+ folks has been front and centre for his entire campaign.
Cybrpwca ( @Cybrpwca@beehaw.org ) English33•2 years ago“I really thought that the leopards would eat other people’s faces, not mine.”
Roland ( @dinodrinkstea@beehaw.org ) English41•2 years agoI give little to no shit about collaborators’ feelings. They want to make things good for themselves and throw everyone else under the bus. Their politics have no place in our collective liberation
TQuid ( @TQuid@beehaw.org ) English22•2 years agoThank you! “Collaborator” is exactly the right word. The judges would also have accepted “Quisling”
Rentlar ( @Rentlar@beehaw.org ) English38•2 years ago“I used to think he was a great governor,” Santos, the first non-incumbent gay Republican elected to Congress, said of DeSantis. “Now, I’m starting to think differently.”
The Hill quoting the NY Republican Senator and chronic liar George Santos takes the cake.
Thrashy ( @Thrashy@beehaw.org ) English22•2 years agoOff-topic, but wow, what a spaghetti bowl of adjectives that first sentence is. What does “first non -incumbent gay Republican elected” even mean as a string of qualifiers? I can just about parse it, but the phrasing makes it read as though all the incumbent gay Republicans before him were straight when they won their first elections, instead of just closeted.
prole ( @prole@beehaw.org ) English6•2 years agoAlso, with this guy, any of those qualifiers could be a complete fabrication. Why does anyone in the media take anything this dude says seriously?
Limeade ( @Limeade@beehaw.org ) English6•2 years agoTechnically a gay Republican could be appointed to fill a vacated seat until a special election is held which would make him an incumbent even in his first election. No idea if that has ever happened, but it seems hypothetically possible.
ChillhopBear ( @StantonVitales@beehaw.org ) English37•2 years agogasp I can’t believe it, queer people being misled by people who explicitly want them to not exist?!?
lagomorphlecture ( @lagomorphlecture@beehaw.org ) English26•2 years agoNothing he has done should come as a surprise to anyone, and anyone who voted for him is going to have to live with the consequences or move. I can’t understand how anyone could think he wasn’t being totally honest about what his intentions were.
liminis ( @liminis@beehaw.org ) English9•2 years agoThey seem to have believed he was just attempting to win over Trump supporters for the nomination; but trying to outdo someone who, to a large degree, sets the agenda for what their base supports and cares about seems blatantly fruitless and silly, to phrase it kindly.
(Now he’s failed to secure that support and alienated the people who liked him for not being Trump, lol. Poetic in a way.)
lagomorphlecture ( @lagomorphlecture@beehaw.org ) English9•2 years agoThe situation would be funny if it wasn’t so terrifying.
LuckyCharmsNSoyMilk ( @LuckyCharmsNSoyMilk@beehaw.org ) English25•2 years agoI love how the Log Cabin Republicans were bitching about how that propaganda video “ventured into homophobia”
Like, guys, he’s been homophobic for a while now and that video slammed through homophobia and straight into fascism.
NotThatKindofDoctor ( @NotThatKindofDoctor@reddthat.com ) English16•2 years agoMisled??? What did they think he was all about??? What did they think he could possibly offer the LGBTQ community???
mistermc101 ( @mistermc101@beehaw.org ) English15•2 years agoand the funniest part of it all is that they did it to themselves. morons.
wwyvern ( @wwyvern@midwest.social ) English15•2 years agoNot like DiSatan has been shy about it or anything. I do hope he gets his ass kicked in all directions in the next election cycle.
Birdcatname ( @Birdcatname@beehaw.org ) English14•2 years agoHeads in the sand.
