Fair warning: despite being one of the hilariously gayest anti-LGBTQ+ things I’ve ever seen, the video ad in question was intended to promote Desantis and LGBTQ+ hatred. But it’s so goddamn bizarre, homoerotic, and funny, I felt it should be shared. It’s like they pushed so hard to be Anti-LGBTQ+ they came out the other side.

What the everloving fuck was that ad, holy shit. Seriously, that’s a political ad? Supposed to make us like the guy?
Well, no, I suppose it’s supposed to make people like me afraid. And I suppose on some level, yes, I’m very afraid for myself and for the country in general if Desantis somehow gets his way and wins the presidency.

desantis’ odds of winning are lower than the Netherlands, nothing to worry about there.

Is he… is he bragging about being evil?
- lazyokapi ( @lazyokapi@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 9•2 years ago
The entire conservative ethos right now is about owning the libs and making them angry. If they’re angry at you, you must be doing something right, and if they’re calling you evil, then wow you must be amazing!

This is an ad for terminally online people. It won’t play well with the vast majoritg of people, but for the people it does target, I see them actually liking it ngl. Which - given that this is Twitter, probably is most of the audience who follows him

People still use Twitter?
Probably the closest thing we’ll get to right-wing performance art.
- scribblemacher ( @scribblemacher@beehaw.org ) 5•2 years ago
For something trying so hard to be anti-LGBTQ, it sure is gay.

What about Theodore Roosevelt who got fucking shot and then proceeded to continue his speech anyways. Even mocking the person’s aim

I can’t get over the fact that they unironically used Brooklyn blood pop for the first ~30 seconds. The song cover art is literally a picture of a queer woman 😂
I’ve seen right-wing “fans” of Rise Against the Machine, and folks who tried to argue Star Trek isn’t political. Not reading stuff beyond a surface level understanding seems to be a feature in right-wing politics.

This ad is more proof the US needs to step up it’s game with education.

How… How is this real?! This feels like a shitpost mocking him that came straight from the depths of niche edgy queer tumblr when they were still a rabbid no man’s land.
