Refusalist. My art_anti-art owes you no explanation. I spend all day painting, and shitpost on Lemmy while I wait for layers to dry. Nothing anyone says or does on here can bother me, and I’ve blocked over 1,500 Lemmy communities so far.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•The ‘Guerrilla Solar’ Era Has Arrived, and Here’s What to Know
4·4 months agoGood points. I’ll also admit I have a fear of electricity so I’d totally be scared. But my local utilities are not saying this because they are worried about our well being, they are worried about making less money.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•The ‘Guerrilla Solar’ Era Has Arrived, and Here’s What to Know
21·4 months agoThat’s what I’m talking about! This needs to be everywhere. Funny though, my local utilities already has it marked on their agenda to “discuss” these types of solar setups. They say they “may not be safe to use.”
Actually the reality is that utility companies stand to lose money from tech like this. So hopefully my community and others can stand up for this tech.

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•VW replaces US ID.4 production with 18mpg Atlas SUV as gas prices spike
3·6 months agoI mean, some people can’t buy because they can’t afford them.
Exactly this. I’d love an EV, but I can’t afford to buy one and can’t afford the required upgrade to my hosue to charge on here.
I think a lot of people on Lemmy forget how much half of the population makes for salary. A lot of Lemmy’s claim they got jobs that paid around $85K right out of college. Most of the population has never made that on any job in their life.

WTF@lemmy.wtf•Man Ate Only Potatoes For 60 Days. Here's What Happened To His Health
2·7 months agoIf you drink milk, and yeah, a multivitamin, you’re good to go. Pretty much covers all your body needs. I’ve been doing it for almost 2 years. No issues, and my bloods came out fine at my health checkup.
In the 18th and early 19th centuries, (before the Great Famine) lots rural Irish families lived for decades on a diet that was overwhelmingly potatoes + buttermilk/milk. They often ate 5–8+ pounds of potatoes per day. This diet was credited with keeping them relatively healthy and producing tall, strong men (many Irish were prized as soldiers/recruits partly because of it).

WTF@lemmy.wtf•Man Ate Only Potatoes For 60 Days. Here's What Happened To His Health
1·7 months agoI’ve read about other people doing this in the past. There was a study by a guy back in 1912, Dr. Mikkel Hindhede who wanted to prove that a very simple diet could keep a person perfectly healthy.
One of his laboratory assistants, Frederik Madsen, volunteered for the experiment. For an entire year, Madsen ate nothing but potatoes and milk (sometimes described as potatoes + buttermilk or potatoes + a little fat). He stayed totally healthy the whole time, with no deficiencies, full energy, and perfect physical condition.
Also, I have personal knowledge of this style of eating. Because I do almost same thing. Six days a week, I only eat potatoes and milk. On saturdays I eat beans, rice, and corn tortillas. (I was inspired by the Hindhede study, by the way)
I’ve done it for almost 2 years and no issues at all. I did it mostly for savings, since I wanted to cut my budget really low, so I could hurry up and pay off my house (which I had already been working on paying off by working overtime and side jobs.)
It worked. I paid off my house last year. Now no mortgage at all. :)
And I work out every day, and last medical check up showed that I’m ideal weight, ideal health, no issues at all.
After reading how many Lemmy posters are overweight, um, I think a lot of people should try the potatoes only thing. It sucks for first 2 weeks, but then your body adjusts tho.
