Good point actually. It’s been a while since I’ve watched these films and I remember this scene being emotional but I don’t think I thought about it too hard beyond that. But you’re right, he probably purposely says that in a language they’ll understand, to be on their level and an honest leader.

I’m trying to trust my intuition more in this regard. Sometimes you just get a kinda psychic bad smell or something from people. And I’m starting to notice that it usually ends up being proven right.

Yeah those kinds of movies are just too much cruelty for me personally. I’ve seen the first one but I’ve pretty much avoided everything else like it since. I prefer spooky and suggestive.

I’m gonna have to say Communion because it was the first one that popped into my head.

I don’t think it’s a scary or maybe even particularly good movie as an adult but I was a kid at the age where I was still worried about monsters under my bed or in my closet when the lights are switched off. So I’m sure the abduction scenes added fuel to my already over active imagination.

Other than that, I’m not sure if I really get genuine fear from horror movies. And I don’t really count jump scares as genuine emotion. I think I’d describe what these kinds of movies make me feel as “anxiety” rather than “fear”. I think it’s why I also prefer supernatural or fantasy type horror to Saw type shit. In a movie like Saw, the anxiety is just unpleasant.

I could honestly write a book at this point about what I would do differently. From taking studies and the idea of a career more seriously, to knowing who I am and having the words to describe it, to making better choices in my relationships with people.

I would change so much if I could. But I can’t, so the next best thing I can do is make the most of my time moving forward.

Oh cool! Almost a month away. Pity that things are so crazy there right now but I’m sure it won’t affect you. Especially just for 10 days. And I presume you’re not going to a swamp in the deep south or something lol.

Should hopefully be getting a new phone in the week finally, so I’ll be cursing everyone on this platform with my presence more often again lol. Could’ve got a bottom of the barrel phone by now but I’ve held out for something on the next step up from bottom of the barrel.

I remember you mentioning it earlier this year and as I watch things go more and more to shit there, I keep thinking about it and wondering if you’re still planning on it.

Hello! I’ve been away from Lemmy for quite a while. My phone screen is kinda broken and I’m not in reach of affording a new one just yet. So that’s killed a lot of my social media usage for now. Also been pretty low I guess and don’t want to infect this place with it.

But I find myself thinking of here and this community in particular often. So I dunno, I just wanted to stop in and say that I hope that all of you awesome people are doing ok. Glad to see this community is still standing strong here. I hope the trolls have been managable. 💜

Smiles from strangers. When you’re out and about doing your thing and make eye contact and share a genuine smiling or happy moment with someone random. Whether it’s because you both just see each other, or you’re both awkward polite people, or it’s because you’re checking each other out. Those random moments always leave me smiling for a little while afterwards.

Yeah, I think TV and movie communities would probably benefit even more than chat and ask communities by starting with content for people to see and not starting from scratch all over again.

It’s a pity that piefed doesn’t add to the subscriber count yet (I never knew that) but personally as a user looking for a place to sub to, I’m looking at the amount of content more than the subscriber count.

I did have a safety pin in my ear for a really short time lol. I’ve had my nose pierced twice. I had my eyebrow pierced. I tried a home job of piercing my lip years ago but it swelled up too much for the actually jewelry I had for it, so that didn’t happen. Mostly I’d lose the piercing or part of it that screws in or whatever, then not have the cash on hand to replace it. So.

I’m dying to start getting tattooed though and I’d love to get pierced again. Especially my nose, specifically a selection of pretty studs to choose from, maybe a ring for certain occasions. And I’d love to get some lobe piercings this time. This is all highly dependent on me getting my shit together though.

Edit: I don’t mean lobe stretching, I mean lots of piercings along the edges of my ears, whatever that’s called.
