Had some hooooooooorible sushi for lunch… it’s a place across town we usually don’t go to, haven’t been there for a couple years because the last time it was no bueno…not terrible but not worth the effort to go across town for. Well a friend of ours lives nearby and we ended up there again and this was the last time- for all of us. Undercooked and unseasoned rice, bland, small cuts, the only thing that was halfway decent was the fried items which I should have known because the place smelled of grease when you walked in…and even that was mediocre (more panko than chicken).

But then Mrs. Banana made up for it by sitting with me at the bar in our friends restaurant and had the Huevos Rotos (eggs over jamón, fries and padrón peppers with a bit of truffle).

it’s been a loooong couple of weeks and tonight is our Friday night, which is Taco Tuesday, which is what imma gonna eat!

didn’t make the croquettes until today, we had a mushroom pasta bake (bechamel & cheese) because there was a significant drop in temp and that was great homey baked casserole goodness.

The croquettes I added some spicy paprika and a bit of mozz, but I just set the breading/crust and am going to freeze them for one of the busier days ahead when I need something quick, easy and filling.

Have a ton of roasted garlic mashed potatoes and eggs so I think I’ll do some proper croquettes with jamón.

Croquetas here are, for the most part, terrible. For some reason they like to ‘blend’ their mashed potatoes which turns it into glue. I’ve found a few places where they rice the potatoes correctly, but it’s a roulette going out sometimes and getting them.
