It sounds like YouTube is heading towards conflict with it’s long-term content providers as well. Their new algorithm heavily favors “shorts”. This really screws over the traditional medium to long format creators who arguably made YouTube successful. Sounds like they want to move quickly into the TikTok space but it’s sad for a lot of creators who are losing significant income d/t this change.

I really enjoyed Brave. I ignored the crypto currency stuff but took advantage of Brave Talk which is a nice alternative to zoom. I switched to Firefox recently b/c I hadn’t used it as a browser for a while and wanted to check it out. I’m very happy with it and plan to stick with it for now.
Personally I see the variety of frameworks as a sign of health not fragility. Vue, eg., spurred React to become much better and less tedious to code. Svelte took nextjs which is commonly used for React and made an even better framework imo, while React keeps improving. You can even mix and match components. Personally I think JS is overall very healthy.
+1 for Sublime merge. I use it to resolve conflicts because I appreciate a gui for that and cli for everything else.
Boot speed was the original selling point :-) after decades of using Linux and avoiding systemd (Slackware) I tried my first systemd a year and a half ago or so. It’s unobtrusive but my needs are basic right now. It has been so widely adopted now that arguing about it is basically pointless.
On the other hand we shouldn’t forget it’s basic flaw: it violates the fundamental principles of Linux. By which I mean write programs that do one thing and do them really well, KISS, maintain POSIX compliance, etc. If systemd was only an init system it would be really awesome. But bit by bit it absorbed functionality and now is a behemoth that runs all of this under a single PID unless that’s changed. And PID1 to boot (pun intended).
Tbh it’s been a long time since I stopped worrying or even thinking about it since it’s kind of like complaining about the weather at this point, it having been so quickly and widely adopted. If they have somehow addressed the design flaw I pointed out above I’d love to know.
