Yes, that was on a country road. On any road with 2+ lanes in my direction I don’t do that (including autobahn ofc), as there’s no need to do it for someone to pass me.

Germans become allergic to rules as soon as they have any kind of wheels under them
I have to strongly disagree, that is not my impression at all. Of all countries I’ve ever driven in, Germans are the most rule-abiding drivers.
In Germany, I’ve been honked at for driving half on the shoulder to let someone pass (that’s not even illegal, but most people seem to think it is). Drivers brake if you’re walking just in the general vicinity of a zebra crossing. Virtually no driver drives past a red light on purpose, I see that like once a year or so (yellow is a different story though…). And, to add a more objective observation, German dashcam compilations mostly consist of absolute mundane minor offenses, while they’re much more action packed even in smaller countries like Netherlands.
Sure, we still have speeding, parking offenses and ignored stop signs on a regular basis. You can see any of these within minutes by just being on any busy city street. But that’s anything but exclusive to Germany, that happens pretty everywhere in a similar (and often probably higher) frequency.
The only driving behavior related issues Germany has IMO are the fines that are an absolute joke, as well as a jurisdiction that treats even deadly and major offenses with kid gloves (drive 100+ in a city and kill someone, you just get 1y9m on probation and you even keep your license, so no time served, you’ll keep living freely, just wait 2 years before you go reckless again and you’re good).
But apart from this, that Germans specifically are allergic to rules is pretty much the opposite of my experience.

For me it’s API usage for the most part.
When they locked the API, I was even fine with paying a bit, so I subscribed to Relay Pro. But now I got a degoogled phone, so I can’t use my play store subscription anymore, and don’t want to fiddle with cracked APKs or patching either.
The original reddit app is a nightmare to use so… that’s why I’m here lol
(Freedom, privacy and decentralization are awesome too, obviously. But I’m gonna be honest, I probably wouldn’t have switched - at least not fully - if it wasn’t for having an app that works well for me.)

Hmm I don’t know actually, but now I’m curious too. From quick search:
As the newspaper Handelsblatt explains, “angst about potential surveillance is rooted in Germany’s past.” The combined legacy of the Nazi Gestapo and the East German Stasi are thought to be part of the reason Germany has been a pioneer in data protection — with legislation dating back to the 1970’s.

I’m probably quite biased being German myself, but I feel like that things like privacy and security tend to be more important to Germans than to other folks. And I don’t speak just about the tech bubble, it shows everywhere.
To give a random example, when a license plate has been blurred in a photo posted anywhere, chances are high it’s been posted by a German. Despite the fact that there is no license plate lookup (like carfax for US, finnik.nl for Netherlands, car.info for Sweden etc) so a license plate wouldn’t even reveal anything to anyone, yet we treat it like a secret on instinct. If you ask such a German why he blurred it, he probably won’t have a reasonable response, he just does it because he feels like it.
(Edit: Just look through the used cars here, most if not all will have their plates censored given they have plates on them lol)
Getting back to topic, this might not be the only explanation, but I’m pretty sure it’s a noticable factor why Germans are especially present on platforms like this, i.e. platforms that tend to respect the user’s privacy more than the big tech corporations.

Japan works fine in Mapy and, regarding your other comment below, it does show English labels when they’re in the OSM data.
You should investigate why it doesn’t load for you (network issues, firewall, adblock, DNS/VPN etc), cause it seems to be what you’re looking for, although I can’t estimate how well public transit is implemented for JP.

Wenn man ganz still ist, kann man leise Linus Neumann weinen hören.

I live near the A7, a North/South directed highway in Germany going all the way from DK to AT and I also live near a motorcycle hotspot/meetup point.
In the summer, there are so many Scandinavians doing just that, making long distance travels with motorcycles, sometimes even with these small motorcycle trailers attached. They go camping in my town and continue the next day further south (or back up north respectively).
I don’t have a bike nor do I like camping, but I love seeing these guys every time :D

Same. I worked in an electronics store. This was one of the manufacturers where products broke so often we had a separate bin for their broken products.
But it was also one of the “refund anytime, no questions asked” manufacturers where we could just say how many value of products we got returned and they would just refund the amount to us. No pesky RMA process, no repairs, just take it back whenever the customer is unhappy and throw it away.

Idk if hangovers are more intensive for me or if I’m just overly sensitive, but I’ve stopped getting drunk simply because of hangovers. I’m just past the point where the upsides of drinking alcohol aren’t worth the intensity of the hangover after it. It’s just not fun anymore.
And I don’t understand how people the same age as me or older still get wasted and just shrug at the hangover, if they even have one. I still drink alcohol rarely, but probably never get wasted at memory-loss level ever again.

Yeah, I assume if they took down Wikipedia itself then hundreds of copies would pop up all over the place, probably hosted elsewhere, and one of them would become the primary replacement over time.
Media might be lost to some extent, but I doubt there’s any way you can take the text/information/metadata off the internet at all, and that’s the most important aspect.
Took me a while not to read that as
The time has come to punish Orbán (and) Germany’s next(, some) government says

Haupt (i.S.v. Kopf) -> Hoofd -> Head
Zwölf > twaalf > twelve
Schatten > schaduw > shadow
Kalt > koud > cold
