EDIT: In case you aren’t aware (not sure if this has changed in the last decade), in a handful of states, approximately 17 (maybe less) do not allow direct to consumer dealerships. This means in states that have laws against this, the manufacturers can not operate a dealership which they sell the vehicle. So effectively Tesla must conduct their sales entirely online. Since laws very from state to state, so much as discussing pricing can be illegal. If states are gonna ban the dealerships then why not just make the showrooms illegal too?

For anyone unaware, Lancet published a paper in 1998 that claimed there were links between the MMR vaccine and environmental triggers that lead to loss of acquired skills including language. The study being conducted turned out to be fraudulent, with parents of many of the children involved in lawsuits against the vaccine manufacturers, as well as unethical treatment of children. 12 years later in 2010, Lancet retracted the paper. I met Seán at STLV last year (I known I encountered Ellie but wasn’t aware till after the con) and was nice. There were people who asked for photos with him, which he seemed gracious to take. Me personally, I didn’t want to ask him because it looked like he was there with his partner.

I struggle to remember which series it was exactly (obviously prior to 2004). This is a memory I have etched in. My World History teacher in 10th grade gave an overview of the entire year’s curriculum on the first day. She had the class watch a large portion of what I believe was the last episode of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (possibly it was Victory Gundam; I only watched Fighter G Gundam). By the end she made it very clear that history repeats. That was the theme of her curriculum for the whole school year.

Right now we are seeing history repeat. This time it is the formerly oppressed committing the crimes against humanity and being aided by the rest of the globe. What did Palestine ever do to Israel except seek statehood? Why can’t we leave them alone?

On an unrelated note, that teacher was awesome. I remember the week leading into the lesson on World War I, they staged incidents where select students would pretend to misbehave and not be punished in any way by the teacher. These were elaborate scenes of shouting. The lesson you might ask? Secret alliances.

The only story we have set in the 20th or 21th century are “Return to Tomorrow Tomorrow is Yesterday”, “Future’s End”, “Future’s End, Part II”, “Carpenter Street”, “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”, PIC season 2, and First Contact. If there are more, they escape me. These stories are all set on Earth. My best assumption would be that after the 21st century is when automobiles got phased out of society. There isn’t really a good reason to show roads when cars aren’t a necessity for travel.

However for whatever reason, as Mariner points out, we still have bridges.
