It’s debatable whether this license is truly open source. I wouldn’t say I particularly go out of my way to be pedantic about it, but somebody might.

Maybe this is too technical still, but Eleventy is a pretty cool project that can publish markdown.

Would you pay for the extra plus features if the source code were also made available?

I found The Minimalist one amusing and a bit relevant, but otherwise I didn’t resonate with any of them. I feel like I’d fall under The Artisan : I’m a hippie type you’d expect to see in a Portlandia episode (and lol, I actually live in Portland), and my goal is to hand-craft every line of code and offer it up as an organic, farm-to-table morsel of supernutritional bliss with excellent mouthfeel.

I saw it and found it incredibly moving. It’s more of a “romdramedy”—it definitely has comedic moments and of course romantic beats driving the overall plot forward but at its core it’s a commentary on societal expectations and class divisions. Would definitely recommend. (Unless you’re truly just looking for a fun romcom in which case prob should go watch Nobody Wants This on Netflix or whatever…which I also love, don’t get me wrong!)

Blink Twice (2024) was in this vein as well. It also had a tech bro/misogynist angle, but wealth (and the power which comes from it) was definitely front and center.

I let my Max subscription lapse some time ago. A smattering of decent HBO shows and one or two great ones is just not worth it. Zaslav has been running this company into the ground. Apple TV+ smokes Max in value. And now they’re realizing maybe dropping the name “HBO” off of HBO was a bad move? LOL

But hey, he’s making big bank so it’s all worth it…for him. 🙄
