This doesn’t seem real, have any of you actually tried this?

Pre-transition: “bro”, “dawg”, “bruh”, “bruu”, “broseph”, “dude” from my friends, endearingly and ironically (I assume) since I’ve always been effeminate. From strangers mostly just “hey! you!” Some people said “brother” unironically and 🤮 unfriended instantly

Currently: when I’m alone I get “buddy” and “sir”, which is weird because basically nobody referred to me as sir pre-transition. But besides that, there’s a lot less direct references to my gender. When I’m with other girls it’s always “ladies” at least.

I totally see where you’re coming from, and it really sucks that the loudest and worst offenders online are almost always presenting as men. I often find that women’s and queer spaces IRL are so much more inviting and less aggressive than general admission spaces.

Since this is a public post, I just want to say to the men lurking that this is a vent post and so it says “all” a lot, but please try to see that she’s expressing hurt and not intending this as an attack or an expression of hatred for men. 🙏

This doesn’t surprise me. I know a gal who reported retaliation at Google and was immediately put on a secret HR blacklist that prevented her from getting above a certain perf rating. She was later “laid off” without cause.

She recorded her chat with HR, and this is a direct quote from the HR person: “Oh, that’s not retaliation. That’s a very specific legal construct. It sounds like what your manager is doing is more like retribution.”

I’m sorry. That sucks, and they suck for not understanding. But fwiw they haven’t ejected you from their life so that’s a good sign. thanks for keeping on trying.

FWIW, I live in a trans sanctuary city so I don’t have to be brave. I just dress up cute and my doctors give me cheap estrogen and nobody cares. It’s practically boring to people here. Hope you find your way here someday!
