The problem with Strange New Worlds to me is the budget and the number of episodes.

Budget, too high. Number of episodes, too low.

Every star trek has their stinky episodes but when you only have 10 episodes per season, 3 stinky episodes is a 30% stinky show.

Also, the budget being so high allows writers to take a siesta and let the effects team take over for a bunch of oooh ahhh laser spectacles. I have that complaint for the end of Deep Space Nine and Enterprise too. In TNG and TOS era, they had less budget and ability to do effects so the writing had to be excellent since most of the show was people standing on the bridge and talking or sitting around a table and talking.

So Paramount/WB, spend less money, spend all you have on writers and makeup and try a new star trek set directly post-undiscovered-country. Follow a Klingon ship that is pissed about their government being dishonorable and wants to forge their own way. Start the show with the attack on Khitomer. Game of thrones-lite Klingon-Romulan-Federation political intrigue. Cameos of the occasional TNG character at Starfleet academy or whatever. Enjoy the billion dollars WB/Paramount. Not that youll need it as one of the 3 remaining media conglomerates left.

Personally I dont see it. She was good but not amazing in my opinion.

This article is pretty disingenuous. I would have expected CNBC to actually bring up economic factors at play besides just inflation.

For instance, tarrifs on imported goods raising the price of food packaging, rising fuel costs that have almost doubled the freight cost in just the last 12 months and also most importantly, the blatant gouging that the 4 food producing conglomerates have been perpetuating on consumers since 2022.

1 company makes all the crackers, all the crackers are expensive. All the chicken produced goes through 2 companies, what incentive do they ever have to lower prices again. Just double the cost, sell half as much but also cut production cost in half and suddenly you are making a bigger profit than before. Poor people can’t afford to buy anything you make anymore? Oh well, line is going up!

Chances are if you own a truck you arent using it to go to the grocers mart to pick up granny snacks for the seniors home.

I agree from the standpoint of research for research sake is still worth doing but anyone telling you that they have a working quantum computer that is just around the corner from working is most likely grifting.

The article is about the first episode featuring the Cardassians and how they mention the Cardassian war that took place directly before the series currently in progress.

Honestly the point of the article seems to be that changing canon is secondary to telling a really compelling sci-fi allegory story.

A great way to not have to worry a lot about canon is to move far into the future or to go farther into the past.

I don’t really care if they introduce a new thing that wasn’t mentioned before, I get more grouchy about them introducing stuff that directly contradicts really important stuff established in the show. Like “turns out the paradise on earth was bullshit all along” for instance.

Dont bring your kids to that event.
