• It’s a common enough idiom out in New England through at least the mid Atlantic region. Growing up it generally meant a parcel smaller than ¼ acre but there are a few towns I’ve lived in where some folks had maybe a tenth of an acre for their house and driveway and (maybe) yard. You’d almost never hear it described any other way.

      It was particularly strange because in the text they describe the tiny forests as “the size of a basketball court”, and I was like… why didn’t you put THAT in the subheading, it actually makes sense.
