Off the top of my head, Hades, Outer Wilds, most Halos, Zelda of course, Alan Wake. I’m sure I’m forgetting something, oh well
It’s crazy what Andrew Prahlow (Outer Wilds composer) managed to make happen with Outer Wilds with a banjo. I feel the music adds so much to the game, and you can really see his skill in all the different genres of music within the OST, from comfy and familial with Timber Hearth, to the creepier Strange Flames
If you haven’t seen it yet I recommend checking out the lost reels (It’s the last 6 tracks). It’s basically a sendoff to the game and the dlc and it’s a work of art. I definitely cried a bit on my first listen.
Oh yeah definitely. I’m not much of a bluegrass fan, but banjo is absurdly overlooked as an instrument imo. If you slow down the typical, really fast fingerpicking (which just isn’t my cup of tea), it tends to sound sort of haunting to me in a way I really enjoy.
