I can understand that, but for me at least the genre does not really work when it is not “Hardcore” enough. What I mean by that is that I played The Cycle and the game is just not deep enough to justify the effort you need to put in for the extraction loop to work. Games like Dark&Darker would just not work if they were not as finicky and lethal. But I am also very curious what marathon will turn out to be. I was already thinking about playing the old marathon games because the lore seems very cool, but until now they just seemed to old for that.
