Good to hear. So many people have written off Elemental, saying the trailer makes it look generic, like Pixar has lost their touch. Thing is, Disney and Pixar have a recent history of making boring or generic trailers, only for the movies to be great.
Unless it was met with poor critical reception, i would probably see it anyway
Yeah, it was visually stunning for sure, and the story was a great representation of the immigrant experience. Kind of a story that’s been done before (Romeo/Juliet, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, basically any other story about children of immigrants wanting to honor the sacrifices of their parents while introducing culture mixing, etc.)… but really a sweet story. The water family was hilarious, and Wade, the water guy, is kind of the sweetest person ever created. Really creative ideas about how literal “fire people” and “water people” could exist and what they could do. Reminded me a lot of the Futurama episode about the water people planet. That had to be a big inspiration.
Asteroid City, The Blackening, and Elemental are the three big movies in theaters i want to see, but I won’t have a chance to until next week.
Just got back from Elemental. Really well done. Great movie. Very sweet.
