Major brands are paying for ads on these sites and funding the latest wave of clickbait, according to a new report.

Are they generated based on search terms?

Because lately when i search it seems like many results are suspect spammy addresses with odd text that include my exact search term - often ranking higher than real websites. Its extremely annoying.

Google and Bing search has been horrible with that for some time. Bing AI will at least bypass the crap website’s for now anyway.
