Well, is it really that influental if the second they’d try to use their power, they’d lose the platform?
I see no reason why telegram couldn’t be replaced in this story.
Telegram as a platform is influential, not the developers behind it. The article put it really well by stating that it’s a “force multiplier”.
Sure you could replace telegram with another program, but without the breadth and type of userbase it has, you wouldn’t get the same force multiplication for information propagation.
Telegram has very easy to use channels. And this is integrated with very popular in Ukraine and Russia messanger. Not sure what another app can cover these usecases good enough.
