Hi everyone, I thought I’d say hi in this new community as a new moderator. I’m Foon (she/her), and I love table top games. My partner and I have been gaming a lot in the past 5 years or so, and we have a bunch of friends that turned into boardgamers too, and boardgamers that we turned into friends. So on average we get almost a game a day in.
I’m excited to discuss all things tabletop gaming with you all. Some of my favourite games are Gloomhaven/Frosthaven, Spirit Island, Aeon’s End, Terraforming Mars.
What are y’all’s favourite games?
I’ve only ever played D&D, really, but yes I’ve definitely heard of Pathfinder. Most people seem to be recommending 2e though, is there a specific reason you like 1e more?
Not OP, but I played and DMed PF1E for several years for a group that loved it, particularly because it is geared towards crunchy mechanical complexity, and owing to its roots in DnD 3.5e it has a vast amount of compatible material to draw on on terms of character creation, content, and alternative gameplay.
Personally I appreciate the more streamlined, narrative-focused systems in DnD 5e and PF2e, but for some the powergaming and rules lawyering is half the fun.
