I’m playing 1 for the first time since I was a kid (I didn’t get far), and it holds up fairly well. The pikmin have horrible pathfinding, and the UI got stretched in the port, but it’s still a lot of fun.
I’ve been considering getting the ports too, but sometimes I have trouble getting into older games once I’ve been “spoiled” by newer ones. Nice to hear it holds up ok.
Pathfinding is really rough. My Pikmin keep getting stuck behind things or walking into water.
There is no lock-on to throw.
The 30 day time limit is a bit of a challenge. (However, you can restart from any day in the Wii and Switch versions, and Pikmin 2 doesn’t have a strict limit like Pikmin 1).
I pre-ordered Pikmin 4 after playing the demo. It wasn’t perfect, but it was really good.
I used the vouchers to get TOTK and Pikmin 4. My wife and I played the third one together and had a good time so we’re looking forward to 4.
