The trans sanctuary states must begin issuing new birth certificates for residents who were born in the fascist states which prevent such changes. Kansas recently passed a law which resends previous gender changes on birth certificates and of course the fundamentalist hate mongers will soon copy Italy’s new law removing same sex parents from the birth certificates of their children.
“By removing barriers to changing gender markers on birth certificates, we are taking a major step in our continued journey to foster an inclusive, safe, welcoming state. This is how we build the bridge to equity and justice for all, and I thank the state leaders and team at IDPH for taking us further.”
Then please push the issue to a constitutional crisis similar to the Dred Scott case by treating fascist states similar to foreign countries and start actually issuing new birth certificates since the greatest barrier for interstate refugees will be the accident of one’s birth location.
That’d be nice, wouldn’t it? I’ll be fine in this regard since I was born and reside in Washington state, but unfortunately my girlfriend was born in Arkansas, so she might have some difficulties down the line.

Once via a sidebar link on r/traa I found a case precedent in the circuit court of Fort Smith, AR which would be relevant for myself involving a court order for gender change without “a certified copy of an order of a court of competent jurisdiction indicating that the sex of an individual born in this state has been changed by surgical procedure…" but instead some other certified medical statement. So far I still haven’t found it again in browser history or downloads, but it does seem that “Arkansas Vital Records will accept court orders for name and gender change from other states.”
That’s good to know… thanks!
