  • I tried Mastodon when I was looking at Reddit alternatives, then immediately switched over to Lemmy. I think I like coming to a forum/community on social media (Reddit, Lemmy), instead of following specific people (Twitter, Mastodon). Looks like Threads is set up that same way, so I’m not interested right now.

    However, I do use Instagram to keep up with my friends and family and a few artists that post their work. So maybe I’ll eventually try it out if enough of my contacts switch over. I’ll just have to wait and see.

      In case you don’t know, you can actually follow hashtags on Mastodon. This allows you to practically follow a topic instead of specific people.

      • I did try that, but I felt like I was only seeing half the conversation with all the reblogs and replies and everything. I was never a Twitter user though, so I’m probably just not used to social media set up that way. I think Beehaw is more my style.
