My minority friends say racism is rampant up there, even in TC. I’m not surprised other forms of intolerance exist as well.

Anywhere outside of urban sectors (and even in those there are places). Luckily, my husband and I haven’t run into any of that up north (even in the UP). But we’re a mixed couple, so that may certainly be a contributor.
