I prefer using omnisexual but use bi when explaining to people outside the community

  • Generally don’t apply a label to myself, as so seldom find it necessary. Sometimes I’ll try to if responding to a survey which is part of academic research or a national census, and then I’ll just go with whichever of the options listed is the least inaccurate. In conversations about sexuality, I might say what I am not, but only to avoid creating the impression that I have perspectives which are not mine.

    All interactions, from passing exchanges with a stranger at a bus stop through to deeply committed relationships and everything in between need to come from a place of consent. Kind of old now and have yet to find that naming my sexuality or anyone else’s is useful for ascertaining whether or not we have mutually compatible desires.
