I think context really matters. I want to sort of repeat the study but restrict the participants to…
- people at work trying to communicate with coworkers
- people communicating with each other to coordinate local irl events and share relevant information
- people chatting about video games online
- people chatting about something taboo (like porn) online
- political debate chatrooms
and see how results vary
