Noticing some federation issues with lemmy.ml for example. Investigating…
Update: supposedly, there is a fix for the 0.19 federation issues we’re currently experiencing in a new RC image. I’ll try upgrading later today.
SmokeInFog ( @SmokeInFog@midwest.social ) English5•7 months agoSorry, I can’t find the thread about the update so posting here as next best place: after the 0.19 update I have to relogin every time I restart my browser. I don’t delete cookies or sessions on close, so this is not the expected behavior. It’s only mildly inconvenient, not a huge deal but I thought I’d report it
SmokeInFog ( @SmokeInFog@midwest.social ) English2•6 months ago@seahorse@midwest.social this seems to be fixed now, thanks
figjam ( @figjam@midwest.social ) English4•6 months agoDid we defederate threads?
Yes
vonbaronhans ( @vonbaronhans@midwest.social ) English1•6 months agoQuestion: what does defederating from threads.net do for a Lemmy instance? I know it’s all ActivityPub, but does Lemmy have any fundamental interoperability with Mastodon-like services like Threads?
ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠 ( @Nemo@midwest.social ) English2•6 months agoYes, you can access Mastodon from lemmy and vice-versa, but the formatting gets weird. Masto users act like lemmy munis, for example.
vonbaronhans ( @vonbaronhans@midwest.social ) English2•6 months agoNeat. Looks like I have a little more research to do on how this whole thing works.
PenguinCoder ( @Penguincoder@beehaw.org ) English4•7 months agoThis may be relevant to your situation.
I checked a lot of the timestamps and they appear to be up to date, so I’m not sure what’s going on at the moment.
raoulraoul ( @raoulraoul@midwest.social ) English2•6 months ago@seahorse@midwest.social, sorry, but it looks like midwest.social is still having federation issues. As of today…

…the pages aren’t identical; the non-midwest.social page is missing https://midwest.social/post/6739296. I know federation isn’t immediate but this is almost five hours later and I suspect that “mirroring” isn’t going to happen (yet again).
