I’m thinking about hosting some kind of event to help drive participation in the community.
Some ideas we could do:
- Weekly anime rewatch
- A classic staple in anime communities, everyone gets together and agrees on a show to watch weekly, and we have a thread discussing it. This is the most likely candidate as of now because of its simplicity and wide audience reach.
- Beehaw Sings?
- Probably not this one, but I always have fun with these. I doubt the community is big enough to sustain this currently.
- Art collaboration of some kind?
- Also probably not, but if the majority of our userbase just coincidentally happens to be artists this would be fun. Slightly more plausible than Beehaw Sings because there are many mediums of art.
If you are interested in participating in some kind of event, please comment! This is also doubling as a “are people actually interested in this” post.
If you have any ideas for more types of events we could do, please share them! I’ll add the ones I could feasibly run to the list.

Watch threads for currently airing anime would be fantastic I think, if that’s not already planned. Its definitely the thing I most use anime communities for.
There’s potentially a bot that can post weekly currently airing anime episode discussion threads, but it’d be good to know what shows people are watching this season. The rest of the community would drown if we posted a thread for every show that’s currently airing, so that’ll be a problem that needs solving. I’ll look into that bot in the meantime!

Maybe a community vote on what shows to track and which not to? Or maybe just a “what I’m watching” survey and do any shows that have over a certain number.
Edit: Or, community survey and the top X watched shows get a thread.

Currently airing threads would be awesome, or a “ones to watch” thread so people can talk about what they’re watching, either from the season or just in general for recommendations. I used /r/anime a ton for finding out what was worth keeping an eye on and I’d love that here

Weekly anime rewatch would be fun! I love watching anime with communities.
A thread for currently airing anime is also a good idea.
Maybe a resource thread? Some people don’t know there’s more legal ways to watch anime and manga for cheap or free. Viz Manga, Manga Plus, Shounen Jump, Tubi…

Could be turned into the community’s wiki - would be nice!

as someone potentially taking baby steps into getting back into anime, I’m very lost and confused with all the new stuff. I would love a recommendations thread, personally.

I’d love weekly anime rewatches - so many good anime that have aired but now that they aren’t anymore just get left on the wayside.

Agreed! Group rewatch is a great way to learn about hidden gems, I also love getting to participate in active discussion for old shows that aren’t being discussed as much.

I always enjoy giving and reading other’s recommendations. So a recs thread would be cool

I like the idea of weekly rewatch threads and artwork threads, and I also agree with the other users here proposing threads for currently airing shows.

I would really like an anime rewatch. Would be fun to start with either a short series or a movie.
A recommendation thread would be good too.

I agree a weekly rewatch and a currently airing thread would be great. That said, in my opinion we should have a recommendations thread. People asking for recs, people posting suggestions like “if you like X, try Y!”, maybe “I’m interested in watching/reading X, is it worth my time?”
