The link-aggregator part of the fediverse has grown, with the launch of PieFed’s beta test. PieFed joins platforms like Lemmy and Kbin who all have the ability to share links, and comment and vote on them. PieFed focuses on making the platform easy to manage, maintain and develop for, and uses Python. Developer Rimu is […]

We already have company in the form of Kbin. What does the third Fediverse Reddit clone bring to the table that the other two don’t already do?

      Try it and see :)

I’m adding new features every day. However this is very new software so merely achieving the same basic functionality is the main goal, for now.

For developers, the fact that it is written in Python instead of Rust or PHP might be attractive. More info at https://join.piefed.social/

Something I added this week is that when viewing a post in a Beehaw community , a message is shown above the comment input box saying “This post is hosted on beehaw.org which has higher standards of behavior than most places. Be nice.”.

For me it’s definitely attractive that it’s written in plain python without much JavaScript stuff, etc. it also seems to load much faster than even my tiny Lemmy instance.

…in that it’s a fediverse Reddit clone that isn’t that different from a user’s perspective from Lemmy? Yes
