This happens to my cucumbers every year. Beautiful vines, and they start producing and then die super fast. I don’t see any bugs on them, maybe downy mildew?

Do you see much in the way of white splotches on the leaves? That sort of visual cue would be cause to suspect powdery mildew. Squash bugs can be tough to see, but would be little grey insects around the base of the plant. Another potential cause would be squash vine borers - the adults will often fly away when you get close but their offspring will make tiny holes in the vine and then grow inside the plant.
If you’re able to provide a picture of what they look like, it may help to narrow the culprit down.
