Jaysyn ( @Jaysyn@kbin.social ) 10•1 year agoIf that chipset has the same issues my Arc a750 has, don’t count on being able to play older games.
TWeaK ( @TWeaK@lemm.ee ) 3•1 year agoMy thoughts exactly, Intel are still trying to break into the gaming market with their graphics, but they have a long history of failing at this.
peanuts4life ( @peanuts4life@beehaw.org ) 2•1 year agoI might be mistaken, but these Intel based machines might be better for switch emulation, as they share dedicated hw for the particular form of texture decompression they use. One cool potential upside
Björn Tantau ( @bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de ) 6•1 year agoWhy are there only two handheld PCs with touchpads?
windowsphoneguy ( @windowsphoneguy@feddit.de ) 2•1 year agoDrivers, probably. Valve did the heavy lifting with the Steam Controller and Steam Input. Other manufacturers don’t have a controller abstraction layer they can integrate that into
_thebrain_ ( @_thebrain_@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 1•1 year agoThere are a bunch more then 2:
Acer rog handheld Lenovo legion Gpd win 2/3/4 and various versions Ayaneo has a few different models Onexplayer which also uses an Intel chip Any loki
There are probably more, I haven’t used any of them so don’t take this as an endorsement of any of them…
Björn Tantau ( @bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de ) 9•1 year agoDo you mean touchscreen? At least the ROG Ally and the GPD ones don’t have touchpads. The only ones I could find were the Lenovo Legion and Steam Deck. Haven’t seen any other handheld PC with a touchpad.
simple ( @simple@lemm.ee ) 6•1 year agoSounds impressive, but it means nothing without knowing how much it costs.
Aside from that, the big question mark is how much power it’ll use. Even though intel’s new chips are way better than the old ones, the 155H still uses a lot more power than AMD. No point in a handheld if it’ll get hot quickly and run out of battery in 40 minutes.
Semi-Hemi-Demigod ( @Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social ) 6•1 year agoThis is the first time I’ve seen “Steam deck” used for a non-Valve device. Gaben may have made the next Kleenex or Bandaid
DarkThoughts ( @DarkThoughts@fedia.io ) 5•1 year agoThat was OP though. It’s not part of the headline of the article.
Ninmi ( @Ninmi@sopuli.xyz ) 2•1 year agoThe same old, tired and stupid control layout and no trackpads. How do you even begin to make a PC handheld and not offer any mouse cursor controls? All the Steam Competitors do is up the specs to stupid numbers and appeal to familiarity. It’s both disappointing and something should’ve expected.
