Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I don’t have to go to work for a few days. But I don’t quite get the same excitement for the weekend that I used to. I hope that you do! If so, how do you cultivate that feeling?
Shdwdrgn ( @Shdwdrgn@mander.xyz ) English24•1 year agoWhen you do this long enough, not having to work for a few days is all the reward you need to make Friday exciting.
Blizzard ( @Blizzard@lemmy.zip ) English1•1 year agoThat and the fact you can turn off the morning alarm!
TexMexBazooka ( @TexMexBazooka@lemm.ee ) 17•1 year agoNah, I have kids, there are no weekends
overload ( @overload@sopuli.xyz ) 2•1 year agoWas going to say this. The work week is easier than weekends.
TexMexBazooka ( @TexMexBazooka@lemm.ee ) 2•1 year agoLol yeah, especially working from home
overload ( @overload@sopuli.xyz ) 1•1 year agoI work from home too. While it’s so so good, being so close to the family does mean I’m working full time + helping out with the family…
tias ( @tias@discuss.tchncs.de ) 12•1 year agoRelief, not excitement
oo1 ( @oo1@kbin.social ) 6•1 year agoget a worse or more boring job.
FeelThePower ( @FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 5•1 year agoit’s more like relief, I get home and I instantly drop into bed all comfy knowing I’ll be snoozing late tomorrow.
pixeltree ( @pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 5•1 year agoI just continually dread existence, with temporary times where I’m unable to cope with it
Remy Rose ( @MxRemy@lemmy.one ) English5•1 year agoI don’t think I’ve ever had a job with weekends off. Or even any other specific days consistently off from one week to the next, more generally. It does sound nice though, I think I’d like that.
some_guy ( @some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org ) 5•1 year agoMore like, “oh, thank you for being Friday. I need the break.”
lichtmetzger ( @lichtmetzger@feddit.de ) 4•1 year agoYes, but it’s actually an “It’s Thursday!” feeling.
The four day work week is amazing.
Artyom ( @Artyom@lemm.ee ) 4•1 year agoI like my job, I don’t particularly look forward to the weekends relative to the week. Often I find long weekends are too long unless I have some major project for them and I start thinking about how I’m going to tackle work problems.

I used to get the Saturday equivalent, but with my anhedonia, even lounging feels like a chore.
Zikeji ( @Zikeji@programming.dev ) English3•1 year agoI work two jobs and have no days off but Friday is the start of not having to drive the next morning so yeah, in a way.
soli ( @solitaire@infosec.pub ) 3•1 year agoNever felt it in the first place, weekends always used to be stressful as a kid and it took a long time for them not to turn me into an anxious mess.
Usually yes but not lately because I’ve been having to work most weekends. I haven’t had a weekend off in a few months. Just finished working a few hours ago actually. But I’m blessed to be in a well paying job and im getting great experience. Gotta make hay while the sun is shining.
Russ ( @russjr08@bitforged.space ) English3•1 year agoFriday is our staff meeting, in which we get a free lunch for attending - so somewhat, yeah!
